Beauty My Curls

My current top 5 fav curly hair products

Okay so, I have sooo many products — some I loveeeeee and others not so much. I have been able to come up with a pretty good routine BUT it does change as I purchase new products.

For me, hold is the most important thing everrrr. Being that I am usually on the go, I need my wash & go’s to last me at least an entire week with very little to no refreshing in between. I just don’t have the time.

A normal wash day literally takes up ALL day for me. Being that I have sooo much hair, after a wash I need at least eight hours for my hair to fully air dry. Yes, EIGHT — and that’s just for drying.

Before we begin, I would like to mention some things:

  1. I do not follow the CG method, at all. I have no idea if any of the products mentioned are CG approved or not. (sorry!)
  2. I do not use all of these products at once. These are just my current go to’s.
  3. These are my personal opinions on these products — yours may vary. Hopefully not.
  4. My hair type is between a 3A and 3B. This does not mean that these products won’t work for other hair types though.

Anyway, without further ado, here are my top 5’s:

1. Garnier Fructis 1 minute hair mask ($2.99 – $4*)

Okay so first of all, this mask smells like EVERYTHING AND MORE. It is so great because not only is it a mask but it can also be used as a leave in or as just a regular conditioner.

My favorite is using it as a leave in. For one, it smells SO GOOD (I swear it does) and two, it gives me so much shine.

When I’m on vacation and I know I’m going to be washing my hair every day I love to just pop some on with a little bit of gel – easy.

When I’m home, I use it to refresh my curls and bring them back to life.

This product is VERY hard to find (the banana one at least). I like to order mine online.

* I think the price changes based on availability. It’s worth it though.

2. Deva Curl Ultra Defining Gel ($22)

Okay so, this gel has been with me since the beginning of my journey. I never ever valued it though, it was just ehhhhh — little did I know my hair was the ehh part NOT the gel. This is one of the things that I use for hold. It is very light so no bad crunch – only the good kind.

3. L’Oreal Boost It Volume Inject Mousse ($5)

I have one word for this one: VOLUME.

God, I LIVE for volume.

Just trust me, this stuff is BOMB. You get a lot of crunch but the crunch that you want. All you have to do is shake it off once your hair is dry and your curls are back to being soft. I’m convinced though that this is one of the main reasons why my curls last me so long. I love it.

4. Creme of Nature Moisture and Shine Curl Activator ($10)

Another one of my ride or dies. Like the gel, this one has been with me from the start.

I don’t have much to say about this one — it speaks for itself.

Try it, CURL heaven.

Oh, and it smells so so good.

Please note that this one can also be hard to find. I usually order this one online.

5. Miss Jessie’s Pillow Soft Curls ($22)

This one is kind of a new find.

I’ve had my eye on this for so long but never brought myself to buying it because of the price tag.

Truth is, it is worth every single penny.

As y’all can see, I love smells. This one does not fall short in that category.

This product gives me the softest curls ever. I love it so much.

I will note though that it runs out pretty quickly (for me at least) but I will definitely be repurchasing.

And here is my most recent wash & go using some of these products.
