Beauty My Curls

My Curly Hair Journey (so far)

You know how you always want what you can’t have? Well, when I was younger I dreamed of having straight hair. I always thought about how cool it would be to be able to get out of the shower and have my hair dry pin straight – no work whatsoever.

Well, my dream came true… kind of.

I straightened my hair so much that I got CRAZY heat damage. About 3/4’s of my hair would dry straight but my roots, they’d curl up.

I got over it pretty fast when I started going on vacation and would have to sit for hours straightening my curly roots after each visit to the pool.

In February of 2017, I decided to let my hair grow out in its natural state. It was the best decision I’ve EVER made. Honestly, It took a while before I saw any major changes since I didn’t do a “big chop.” Each day was a challenge but I stuck to it, best as I could.

For about a year, I applied no heat to my hair and completely changed all of the products in my routine. Every three months I’d cut my ends until no dead ends were left.

I am not by any means perfect so after the year I did straighten my hair here and there but never using a flat iron.

Many bad hair days later and this is what I have to show for it:

Please ask me any questions about my journey!
